Herbert Crowder/ Elizabeth Holloway Family Genealogy

HERBERT CROWDER was born about 1812 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. He died in Hineston, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. He joined the Confederate Army in Alexandria, Louisiana on April 22, 1852. He was a private in Company E of the 16th Louisiana Infantry. He was on the roll until June 30, 1862. He was absent because he was sick in the hospital. He also fought with the Confederate Cavalry, 13th Regiment Virginia Cavalry, Company E. By the time the war ended he had been promoted to Sergeant. He was a Carpenter. He was married to ELIZABETH HOLLOWAY about 1837.

ELIZABETH HOLLOWAY was born about 1823 in Hineston, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. She died about 1851.

HERBERT CROWDER and ELIZABETH HOLLOWAY had the following children:

i. William J. CROWDER was born about 1837. He served in the military. He was a private in Military Unit G. He was a private and a Corporal in the 27th Regiment of the Louisiana Infantry. He was in Military Unit F. He served as Second Lieutenant in the 28th Thomas Regiment of the Louisiana Infantry. He was captured. He was in Company D as a Corporal, Second Lieutenant and First Lieutenant.

ii. Herbert CROWDER Jr. was born about 1840. He died in 1841.

iii. Andrew Jackson CROWDER was born about 1842.

iv. Marthie J. CROWDER was born about 1845. She married John Currey on December 12, 1881. She married Mr. Reemes.

v. SMITH GORDON CROWDER.

vi. John R. CROWDER was born on 11 Oct 1846 in Louisiana. He died on 17 Apr 1931 in Louisiana. He owned Crowder Cemetery the 1780s in Fullerton, Vernon Parish, Louisiana. He resided in Fullerton, Vernon Parish, Louisiana. He was buried in Blue Branch Cemetary, Pitkin, Vernon Parish, Louisiana. He applied for a Confederate pension. He married Marie Louise Lacaze (Soulange/) on February 11, 1871 in Rapides or Vernon Parish,Louisiana.

vii. Virginia G. CROWDER was born about 1850.

viii. Anderson CROWDER was born about 1851. He was born about 1852.
